The Talloires Declaration :: French History Essays

The Talloires Declaration The Talloires Declaration was born in Talloires, France in 1990 at a conference atdecadeded by presidents and chancellors from universities slightly the world. They believe universities fuck off a duty to take care of the land in order for it to be sustainable and permit future generations. The intention of the creators was to find a commission to incorporate environmental sustainability in all aspects of educational institutions. They came up with the Talloires Declaration which is an official statement comprised of ten how-to steps to create sustainability. It is supported by universities around the globe who want to incorporate sustainability and environmental literacy in the classroom, in research, in system operations, and in outreach programs. The claim of the Talloires Declaration is University leaders must initiate and support mobilization of internal and external resources so that their institutions respond to this urgent challenge. A lready more thanthree hundred university presidents and chancellors from over forty countries involve signed the declaration and have incorporated sustainability into their universities by falling the framework set by the ten steps. To understand the Talloires Declaration, one must know what sustainability is. The dictionary definition of sustain is to victuals going prolong. Environmental Sustainability is a way of using resources so that they are not depleted and it is a way of living that uses environmental methods such as recycling, solar panels, and little use of resources. In universities across the globe, sustainability has not been incorporated in everyday campus life and this has caused concern about the environmental impacts of those institutions. Each of the ten steps of the Talloires Declaration is open for individual interpretation by each university. The creators purposefully wrote the steps this way because each campus has its own circumstances and env ironment. These guidelines ensure that universities follow through with sustainability because they motivate and inspire the establishment of a better world. It is good that the same steps are followed by all the universities, that they are dedicated to creating a sustainable future, and that they are held accountable for their actions. The first step of the Talloires Declaration is to spread the word of sustainability and the ways to develop it at the university.

Comparative Economics: U.K. vs. Japan :: Economics Essays

The economy of a nation is a major indication of its succeeder. One aspect of a nations economic success or failure is the ashes of government. Whether a nation is socialistic, communistic, ruled by absolute sovereignty, or based on capitalistic principles can be a key factor in a countrys economic success or failure. Government is the foundation of an economy just it is not what determines its success. Issues that determine a nations economic success include growth strategies, improved or increased resources, investment and savings, government policies, trade, foreign direct investment, income distribution, labor allocation, innovations in technology, and several other economic issues. I feel that economic growth is the main indicator of economic success. Additionally, innovations in technology, improving human capital, and improving foreign direct investment (FDI) are trey issues that can lead to economic growth. In the following essay I will try to compare two highly developed economies, Japan and The united Kingdom. I will emphasize the success of their economies and how human capital, advancing technology (innovation), and FDI have contributed to their current success or failure. I will briefly talk about the contemporary history of each country, thoroughly cover their current conditions, and end with expectations for their future.Introduction Comparison of Japan and the United KingdomThe U.K. and Japan seem lifelike subjects for comparison. British and Japanese observers alike have long been fascinated by the many parallels (and the even more numerous divergences) in the histories of these two island nations. Particularly arouse about these two was the "economic parting reversal which occurred between Japan and Britain over the course of the twentieth century. In 1900, the United Kingdom was the worlds dominant colonial, fiscal and naval power, as well as a center of industrial production and technological innovation. Japan was a mere up-star t, a precocious and aspiring, but still unthreatening, economic competitor in East Asia. The beginning of the twentieth century, and more accurately the 1950s, saw Japan and Great Britains economic role reverse. Although Britain has enjoyed healthy growth rates and rising standards of living over the past 100 years, it has been progressively eclipsed by Japan as an economic superpower and an planetary model. Indeed, Britains accomplishments have paled in comparison to Japans meteoric rise while Japan has emerged as the outstanding economic "success story" of the twentieth century, Great Britains comparatively modest performance has been both discouraging and confounding.Brief Contemporary History

The agency specialized in the field of attorneys. All the advertisements consisted of basically the same concept there was not a lot of room for creativity. I did though learn a lot from that internship in the ways of doing concepts on a calculate and on a time scale. I also got to sit in on client meetings and give my input on key projects. Learning about Ancient Civilization from the Indian Mahabharata Essay

Learning about Ancient Civilization from the Indian MahabharataI believe that the Mahabharata historically teaches us about ancient Indian civilization wonderfully. Whether the epic actually happened or not, many in present day India really do believe in the mystical world of god, goddesses, and god-like warrior kings. For them to strike such faith in the epic says a lot about their culture, which is rich of soul and in my opinion imagination. Is it safe to say that some of the heathenish make-up exhibited in the Mahabharata such as male and female roles pass on to today India? I think so. Of course India has grown much since the relative of the Mahabharata, but through the lives of the Dhritarashtra and Pandus families we can see how historically ancient Indians thought, which may or may not flow into how they think today, but its an interesting plan to ponder. In this essay I will discuss the male and female roles within the ancient royal families and back-up my opinio ns with stories from the Mahabharata. Due to the importance of dharma males roles differed, but for just about the male was a hunter and provider for his family. Besides the time when Yudhisthira embarrassed Draupadi with his gambling issue, one male role was to protect his wife. The Pandavas wife traveled with them and they cared so much for her that they would kill on her command. For example, when Kichaka pursued Draupadi even after her warnings of her five husbands Bhima, one of the Pandavas, took care of the problem by squishing Kichaka into a round ball of flesh. Through most of the epic the Pandavas tried to protect their wives from danger, but there is exactly so much you can do in times of war. Another male righteousness was to obtain wives, ... ... the sake of the future of the kingdom. The males were skilled in battle and fashionably wore there hair back. Males did not really dance much either. Then for the females, they did dance. The girls were pass judgm ent to eventually become a wife. As a wife the females were the baby makers and support system for the family. She was caring and a friend to her husband. This of course does not really depict the ancient civilization as a whole. For example, this way of living does not include the prostitutes. These roles that I have studied from the Mahabharata are really only of the royal families, because the majority of the story was about kings, queens, princes, and princesses. Overall, the epic was a great analysis of how people in ancient India viewed the world and how through the roles of men and women everything was unbroken in balance within the kingdoms.

Effects of television on children Essay

Every day for the few decades children absorb been subjected to the harmful mess long times of advertisers on television. T here is some reciprocation in the literary works over the geezerhood at which adolescent children funda workforcet distinguish television broadcasts from programs, and when they can conjure up and want what they amaze their eyes on and when they be able to figure out that the advertisers goal is to sell a manufactured product. Resolution of the dispute has been hindered by methodological difficulties and models which fail to fully apprehend and figure out childrens ac drive inledgments to advertisements. This research uses a book and ecologically accurate method of searching how illumination advertising act on children by studying their demands sent to Santa Claus, supervise game commercials and obtaining television viewing data. Eighty children aged from 5 to 7 years, who had exituate forth the messages to Father Christmas, were consulting with lookin g upon the extent and quality of their television viewing. Reports and related data were also analyzed for 16 nursery discipline kids, aged 4 to 5 years, using survey replies from their parents.Overall, kids who upholdd more commercial television were found to call for a larger matter of things from Santa Claus. These kids also demanded more mark items than kids who watched less. Without Regard To, the childrens demands did not agree significantly with the most every now and then advertised game merc ease upise on television during the get up up to Christmas. An accurate relationship was founded amongst observance television solely and number of demands. The Effects of goggle box on Children telly was invented eighty five years ago by a farm boy named Philo by mistake, now its one of the main sources of entertainment, education and problems worldwide. At m each incompatible ages, kids observe and understand television in many different ways. In broad, it depends on their co nsideration and worry, the method they use to help process information and data, their attentiveness to that particular information, and, of course, their take in experiences in life itself. video recording, movies, series and advertising can affect our society significally and particularly our children. The huge amount of wallop thats caused by different aspects such as how many kids watches television and whether alone or with adults, as well as whether parents discuss what they envision on television with their children. Childrens age and personality are also very distinguished factors that help influence the amount of television impact. Television has both positive degree and negative influences on children.Television has brought many changes to the way children spend their free time. While some of these changes rich person been good and beneficial, others have had a harmful effect. Thus, the job of this paper is to investigate the positive and negative cause of televis ion on our children who in the course of time will be our future generations. Television has an enormous impact on how children see the world in general. Kids waste more time watching TV than they spend on their school work.Kids and teens between 8 and 18 spend at least 4 hours a day in front a television screen and almost 2 additional hours on the computer (outside school work) and playing video games (Kaiser Family Foundation). Television viewing takes away the time a kid needs to develop very important skills like his own native language, social skills, imagination and most importantly creativity. School kids who watch withal much television tend to work less on their homework. When children do homework with a TV in the background, they tend to absorb little information and fewer skills (Parenting early years).According to language and speech intelligent Dr. Sally Ward, 20 years of research and commitment manifest that children who are harassed by background television noises in their houses have problems paying attention to voices and calls when there is also a background noise. Television viewing takes away time from writing and improving reading skills through practice (psychological science at once Magazine). Children watching cartoons and series and entertainment television during pre-school years have lower pre-reading skills at age 5.Kids who tend to watch entertainment television are also less likely to read books and other types of media (Parenting Early Years). Television has become a huge part of a childs life for the past few decades, and there is an argue that there is a link between a kids abnormal or self-assertive behavior and television power. Eighty percent of television programs include violence. In addition, it is important that children spending their leisure time in watching television should be controlled by the parents (Judith and Lawrence, 2004).TV violence does not just affect a childs adolescence it also affects his or her adu lthood. It also can destroy a kids mind the effects can be long lasting and ceaseless. Many psychologists feel that the continuous disclosure to television violence susceptibility unnaturally accelerate the impact of the adult world on the child leading him or her to early matureness. As the kid matures into a grown up, he can become frightened, have a greater mistrust towards others, a shallow oncoming to adult problems, and even the unwillingness to become an adult (Judith and Lawrence, 2004).Television includes many acts of violence and destruction not just in violent movies, but also in night news, cartoons and stand up comedies. Studies taken fork over that television violence makes children less sensitive, cruel, cold hearted, rude, lacking consideration for other and more aggressive. Watching violence on television reduces the sensibility of kids to real demeanor of vehemence. Other studies connect newspapers and TV publicity of suicides to a proud risk of suicide that ca n be committed by children (TVs harmful effects of kids). In many diverse ways video vehemence can turn into actual violence. As interpreted atop, when kids observe a bit too much television violence the world becomes bland in comparison. Children need to create violence to keep them contented (Erica and George, 2010). Also kids like to imitate false and non-fictional characters on television and find it fun. Kids also love to portray models on television and movies because the ideas that are shown to him are more alluring to the spectator than the ones he can think up himself (Psychology Today Magazine).Fictional characters are being imitated widely around the globe like for example power rangers and Ben 10 which children cannot seem to get enough of. Television violence effects are mostly seen and apparent in big cities aggressive behavior was more allowable in the big cities as long as the childs popularity was not hindered by his or her enmity (Judith and Lawrence, 2004). In t he major cities, violence, felonies and crimes are essential and expected therefore is left unchecked. Many researches were conducted into the topic of children and television violence and in the end pointed and lead to the same direction. There is an indisputable relationship between hostility and television violence. The outcome was acquired in a survey of London schoolchildren in 1975. Greensburg found a significant connection between the viewing of violence and aggression (Erica and George, 2010). In this area the government has made many researches. An experiment was conducted where kids were left alone in a room with a videotape monitoring other kids playing and having fun. Kids who had just seen commercial vehemence accepted many superior levels of aggression than other kids. After quite some time, things got out of hand and progressive mutilation began to take place. The results were published in a report. Sergon Generals report found some preliminary indications of a causal relationship between aggression and television viewing conduct in kids(Psychology Today Magazine). During our time it is noticed and observed that extremely coarse and rude programs on television standardize high aggressiveness, shortage of consideration of others, shortage of politeness and respect and public coarseness. All such behavior without doubt influences the conduct of kids in our community. In other researches among get together States kids, it was discovered that violence, academic problems, unpopularity with peer and aggression feed off each other. This encourages vehemence behavior in the kids (Televisions Impact on Kids). The combination of continue Television watching and aggression lead to low scholastic standings as well as unpopularity. All these can easily cause more aggression and malicious cycles to begin spinning (Televisions Impact on Kids).Viewing some programs may cause irresponsible sexual behavior in kids (Psychology Today Magazine). Pictures of hypersexu al behavior, accidental sexual clashes without any common consequences, made use of programs for example such as BBCs Are You Hot OR NOT? and sex exploitation in advertising may cause negative consequences for kids. Such movies, programs and TV shows cause very young people to have early sexual relation. Such sexual behavior becomes normal for many young kids with time, though many of them may be a bit mentally and physically traumatized by early sexual issues. In spite the fact that telly can be a very strong method of educating kids roughly the hazards and liability of sexual behavior, such issues as sexually transmitted infections like AIDS and HIV and unwanted pregnancy are rarely debated in programs with venereal content (Televisions Impact on Kids). Research states that kids who spend more time on television are inclined to think that women and men have particular roles in our community (TVs harmful effects on kids). It is apparent that TV usually shows women as weak and obe dient in collation with some men who are usually described as dominating and rigid (TVs harmful effects on kids). It may run kids with a full comprehension of what they are awaited in the near future. Impact on self-image, specifically for teenagers, is crucial and well documented. The negative consequences caused by television over the last 10 years in regard of self-image are high increases in bulimia, depression, self-mutilation, eating disorders, and anorexia Watching too much television of any kind has evident psychological and physiological negative outcomes on kids. In Biology it is known as the couch potato syndrome.A lot of studies show that even mild television content reduces imagination and creativity of kids, which in return increases obesity, physical activity, and laziness. In supplement, it leads to inferior grades in school, reduced ability to pick out stress and conflict, and offensive behavior in connection with peers. And for your information, obesity in childho od can be highly encouraged by junk forage advertised on television to children. Violent shows and late-TV watching has been known to be associated with sleep problems in kids. The emotional stress caused from too much night shows balk kids from dreaming and may eventually result in nightmares. In supplement, incorrect samples of sleep during the night can easily push kids to be less quick within the day also advancing poor performance in school (Televisions Impact on Kids). It is very important to know that too much television watching may have a bad impact on academic and learning execution of kids (Televisions Impact on Kids). Especially it is apparent if the time of television viewing replaces healthy mental and physical exercises. Most part of children free time mustiness be spent in such activities as exploring nature, playing music and sports, and reading (Televisions Impact on Kids). Besides, the time of TV watching significantly cut back contact with family and companions (Judith and Lawrence, 2004). It is important to take into account the impact of commercialism. There are a number of manipulative commercial messages on television and even at school almost every day. Companies aspire to manipulate kids and with this they tend to hire psychologists to help influence kids. This is called the art of winemaking. The redundant number of commercial messages has produced a chronic anxiety in teenagers, and many psychologists bear in mind that these messages have raised depressions in kids. The other invalidating effect is that advertising on television raises a claim to acquire something like for example toys. Quite A few studies declare that parents carry on a primary role in social learning of their kids, but if the parent views are not discussed with their children, the medium may instruct and have an impact on them by absence (Impact of media use on children and youth). An example in an account from the American Academy of Pediatrics Task Force on Chi ldren and Television, it was decided that Television watching promotes an attraction toward vehemence, an apathy when real vehemence is seen, passive learning, provides wild messages regarding substance abuse (drugs, alcohol, and tobacco), and also encourages the use of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs, and by delivering an unrealistic way of problem-solving and/or dispute resolution and it is linked with obesity because of snacks with high calories pulmonary consumption (Televisions Impact on Kids). Some specialists, however, debate that television is not all that evil. They restrict though that watching television can be good if it is done in balance, and if the program being viewed is chosen some television shows can inform, inspire and educate. It can be more useful than audiotapes and books in teaching your child about methods like how to bake a cake or how to plant a plant. Studies show that children who view non-violent and educational children shows do better at reading, writin g and math examinations than those who do not take after these programs.Kids who watch informative and educational presentations as preschoolers tend to view more educational and informative presentations when they get older. They deal with television effectively as a complement to school learning. On the other hand, children who view more entertainment programs tend to view fewer educational programs as they grow older (Televisions Impact on Kids). Kindergarteners who watch educational programs tend to have superior grades, value their studies more and tend to be more aggressive earlier and after they reach high school, according to a short-term study (Televisions Impact on Kids). Finally, scientists from the University of Siena found out that children experience a painkilling, soothing result by watching cartoons. So there is no harm in watching a little entertainment television here and there, and can be a source of relaxation for children who are in pain or stressed. Conclusion In summary, the viewing and watching of television causes an important impact on the behavior and development of children of all ages. The Television set may have both negative and positive for children of all ages, and many researches have paid peculiar regard to the television percussion on our community and, in particular, our children.Today there is an extraordinary mission to stop the negative impact of television on kids. It is clear that quality-aligned programming for kids must be produced in the approaching future. Furthermore, speaking to kids at their homes with their families together and in school with their instructors about their deary programs and many other popular programs and films can help kids get a better understanding of things on television and on the world itself. Thus, parents are the great impact on the lives of their kids and as their duty must control the state and try to manage their television view.Since we will never be able to allure the mass-medi a to narrow down advancing sex and vehemence, especially, on television, we can aspire to comply with what our children are subjected and handle them and talk with them about the programs they pay attention to, especially if they are with negative content. Loser : Microsoft

Still, though Microsofts goals are good, its implementation needs work. This was Philip E. Rosss main point in his article Loser Microsoft to Spammers Go Phish. In the article, Ross discussed the two spam e-mail countermeasures developed separately by Microsoft and the partnership of Cisco and Yahoo. Although he admitted that the systems developed Sender ID by Microsoft and Domain Keys Identified Mail (DKIM) by Cisco/Yahoo had their own advantages, he also confesses to believing that DKIM is the better anti-spam proposal. He goes as far as writing, For our purposes, that sack ups Microsoft Corp. the loser. After discussing the difference between Microsofts and Cisco/Yahoos designs a Sender ID verifies that an e-mail really came from where it claims to curb fix from by comparability the contents Internet Protocol address from the IP address of its claimed origin while DKIM tacks an encrypted digital feeling to the e-mails header and this signature contains instructions on where to find the algorithm Ross reveals the one great loophole to Microsofts Sender ID. It is not able to differentiate between spam and forwarded e-mail. And Ross says this can make or break Microsofts anti-spam system. As Ross says, the only way to get around Sender IDs glitch is to cut and paste a message you plan to forward. But this, Ross explains, makes sharing harder thus, possibly resulting to lesser people e-mailing.Although Ross presents Ciscos Jim Fentons claim that DKIM also has its own fault in that it is more easily confused by e-mail changes while in transit, he still has another negative comment on Microsoft. He mentions critics speculations that Microsoft may have other things in mind with the control of spam e-mails speculations that may have stemmed from the companys tight grip on Sender IDs intellectual property.Yet even with this presentation of arguments against Microsofts Sender ID, Ross still believes that the Redmond, Washington computer giant is serious roug h eliminating spam and that they have what it takes to come up with the standard in spam countermeasures. For now though, Microsofts intentions are not enough and they have yet to work towards polishing their processes.Philip Ross made a well-informed article with Loser Microsoft to Spammers Go Phish. He was able to provide evidences to all his claims and was able to back-up his assumptions. But even with a fair presentation of two sides to Microsofts Sender ID, Ross still had the tendency to settle more on the negative side of the system. This was especially apparent when he brandished Microsoft as the loser, when a less negative term could have sufficed.Rosss points, though a little biased, were admittedly insightful. His mention of Microsofts attempt at secreting their anti-spam technologys intellectual property does make one wonder why such a secrecy. I do hope that assumptions on the possibility of this technology being exploited will turn out to be not true because true to Ross words, nobody wants to be strong-armed.However, even I have to agree with Rosss suggestion that perhaps Cisco and Yahoo can add Microsoft to their team and all three can work towards a stronger anti-spam system. Since the fight against spamming is not about one companys supremacy over another but about making e-mail more reliable for all users, Cisco, Yahoo, and Microsoft must stress to work together for the benefit of millions of e-mail users. And it was good that even Fenton and Microsofts Harry Katz concur that this is a good idea.Philip Ross may have his own biases regarding Microsofts Sender ID and it was slightly apparent in the article. But his proposal for making the current situation better is indeed something that current industry bigwigs should look at. denotationRoss, Philip E. (2007). Loser Microsoft to Spammers Go Phish. These rules demonstrate what should be done and what shouldnt be done in the flavortime. some(prenominal) religions in the world have different tactile sensations on guidelines and this research essay will visualize and compare the religious views on homosexualism and same sex marriages in the religions of Judaism, Buddhism, and Wicca.Judaism is one of the oldest religions in the world. The earliest written source of quirk in Judaism begins with the Book of Leviticus which is one of the five parts of the Torah. Orthodox Jews will argue the fact that the Torah forbids homosexual acts. It states, A man shall non lie with an other(a) man as he would with a woman, it is a toeva (Leviticus 1822) (Homosexuality and Judaism, 2004). In the past, if people were homosexuals it was a capital offense, and hold upn as unnatural. If one was to have homosexual attractions their actions would be held accountable by God. Modern Orthodox Jews dont care if homosexuality is a mental disease, or if you were born with it, they still believe that it is morally wrong no matter what the case is. Conservative Jaws are on the fence. They say according to the Halakha (Jewish Law) you should not judge homosexual relationships. Though the position of the conservatives is at the point where they know that homosexual relations is a violation of Jewish law they find it a less punishment just like breaking any other law many Jewish member violate such as eating non-kosher food. Therefore this leads them to believe there is no reason to view homosexuality as anything other than a Jewish law violation. The last category of Judaism is the Reform branch in North America. Reform Judaism does not prohi check rabbis and cantors as being homosexuals. In 1990, Central Conference of American Rabbis of ficially stated that regardless of their sexual orientation, they will fulfill their sacred occupation (Homosexuality and Judaism, 2004). Many of the points under this document support the equality of gays and lesbians and want to help legalize same-sex marriages. That is the wide variety of viewpoints that exist in Judaism. In Buddhism there are a variety of opinions on homosexuality and same-sex marriages as well. Buddhistics are required the follow the five percepts, which include abstaining from harming living beings, sexual misconduct and false speech. In Buddhism there is no scripture in which it states that homosexuality is a wrong thing to do but usually is considered the third percept (sexual misconduct) by the Dalai Lama. A Buddhist author wrote, where the sexual act is an expression of love, respect, loyalty and warmth, it would not be breaking the third percept (Homosexuality and Buddhism, 2006).This quote goes against the Dalai Lamas opinion and explains that whether th e love is heterosexual or homosexual love is love, and as long as they are not committing adultery, it isnt against their religion. Dalai Lama, the leader of Tibetan Buddhism would say homosexuality is wrong and is considered part of sexual misconduct. Dalai Lama states in an interview, the purpose of sex in general is for procreation, so homosexual act does seem a bit unnatural (Homosexuality and Buddhism, 2006). In Theravada Buddhist countries, they do not practice homosexuality. They believe that it is a punishment for being heterosexual unfaithful in a past life (karma). This illustrates that the Buddhist religion fosters a wide variety of opinions on homosexuality.Wiccan is a modern font western religion having to do with witchcraft. The traditions of Wiccan do not usually accept homosexuality however modern day Wiccan followers do accept it. The traditional belief is that the magical energy developed between heterosexual relationships is not present in a homosexual one. The tr aditional followers believe that a man and a man or a woman and a woman cannot create a tension so strong to be able to generate magic this was at the time of the life of Gerald Gardner. The theory of Gerald was that heterosexual men are dominant/projective and all females were passive/receptive (The wiccan way.). Modern day thinking is that each gender can be either projective or receptive which can give homosexuals the same amount of power as heterosexuals have. Therefore the Wiccan way does accept homosexuality in modern day, but in the past it was not accepted due to lack of ability to generate magic in the traditional way. These three religions are considered very different in many ways. Judaism is the oldest religion and uses scriptures as the history and law of their religion. Buddhism is a branch of Hinduism and uses the Buddha teachings as the way of life. Wicca is witchcraft and looks upon the Book of Shadows. Wiccan is the only religion in modern day that accepts homosexual ity and same-sex marriages unlike Judaism who completely reject the idea from what their ancient scriptures states. Buddhism is the one in the middle they believe that it is unnatural because of rough-cut sense but dont necessarily forbid it to occur.Throughout history, opinions can change. Sometimes they change in religion like the Wiccan way, or sometimes they can stay exactly the same, like throughout Judaism. This research essay examined each of these religions including Buddhism on the topic homosexuality and same-sex marriages.BibliographyGardner, Gerald. (1954). Witchcraft Today. Based on the report stated by the Ministry of Health (MOM), It shows the huge incre asing percent from 4. 4 percent at 2006 then increased to 15. 1 percent in 2011. From this statistic, it shows that obesity among Malaysian are becoming a serious problem. The escalation of obesity, once thought to be an urban phenomenon, has now spread to the inelegant population at an alarm rate.As Malaysia proceeds rapidly towards a plopped economy precondition, the health of its population will probably continue to deteriorate. Therefore, a national dodge needs to be developed to tackle both dietary and activity contributors to the excess weight gain of the Malaysian population. One of the factors that trance the increasing factor of obesity is fast food intake. As the economy pass by, the fast food restaurant can be fine everywhere in Malaysia. The first franchise fast food was brought into Malaysia in 1963 was A&W by Mr. and Mrs. Lie Off from ASSAI.The Lie Off family opened their first outlet in Clan Thank Abdul Raman making it the first fast food outlet in Malaysia. From there, Malaysian community start eat fast food and one by one the fast food restaurant came into the Malaysia like KEF McDonalds, and many more. According to Hussein (2011), the ability of western fast food restaurant to cater to local Muslim market place created a huge impact on local food restaurant in Malaysia. According to Small et al (2002), the improvement in socioeconomic status increases the obesity prevalence which the people are used to leading a sedentary life style and unhealthy habit. The statement agreed by Paltrier and Alaska (2012), most of the people in this millennium century AR working people. They have to work to support their family. If 20 years back, women who has their own carrier is difficult to see, most of them are dramaturgy wife. They prepared all the food for themselves and family, but in the moored live they also working to support their family. Sometimes they do extra time from the normal working hour. That lead to the buy outside food as it is easy to get and the food are ready to eat without have to prepared all the food after a long hour stay in their workplace.Another key factor that contribute in the increasing the number of obesity factor was the eating behavior. Shootout et al (2004), mention that most of the obesity people is working. People who are working sometimes face with the irregular working hour. So they have to skip the meal or eat the meal late at night. This factor play a main role in change the diet structure. People t end to take a large amount of food for one short to ensure saving their time to cope with their responsibility at work. For the parents, they dont have enough time to prepare the food for family and for working women it is hard for them in balance between family and work. Therefore, the easiest alternative is to buy a food outside which the nutrition and hygiene of that food can be headlanded. According to Paltrier and Alaska (201 2), constraints in time stressing , working people and new-made family might substitute time-saving options which the priority to eat food rather than emphasize the nutritional values that are supposed to be the heart of concern.Culture certainly has a big influence on behaviors leading to weight gain. The concepts of personal well being such health, affluence, beauty, strength and prosperity are modeled and learnt from society at large according to Amounts (1994). As such, culture and society that accepts overweight as favorable, would lead to behaviors that reinforces weight gain. Behaviors that lead to weight gain are influenced at various social levels such as peer groups, parents, partners, friends and authority figures, or socio-economic environment. It is usual that people tend to eat the foods that are eaten by their family and friends for reasons such as having a sense of acceptance and belonging, accordance to authority. According to Sob (1 995), community must having consistencies in attitudes, beliefs and habits of diet and nutrition formed through learning . Other social influence variables in sexual activity roles . The women tend to be tater, the life development such people tend to grow fatter as they age, and then decline as the bodybuilders. One such cultural influence with regards to socio-economic environment is eating out. Eating out has become popular as it is highly convenient for todays modern household. French et al. (2001 ) says that eating out at restaurants and eating food prepared away from home has been found to be increasing in trend in the past 20 years. Local data shows quasi(prenominal) trend not only in the urban but also in the rural area . Moreover, food prepared away from home tend to be larger in portion, as well as higher in fat ND energy. This change in nutritional quality is a cause for concern as there is increasing intake of higher than needed energy consumption. cumulus media influence plays a large role in eating out behavior by exposing messages that encourage food consumption, which leads to the increase Of food availability . On the other strive, people nowadays are more used to a sedentary life style. The evolution of modern technology has created machines that replace the human role in performing quite a number of daily chores. We are no longer walk to our destination due to the convenience of al sorts of transportation. On the other hand, more sophisticated and smart technology too influence people in using modern stratagem make this situation become worse. According to Inorganic (2006), people nowadays move less frequent as more they now elect spending time sitting in front of computers or using their cell phone to update their status in medial social such as faceable, twitter and many more. Furthermore, modern kids now prefer to play online game using their gadget rather than to get involved in the outdoors sports such as football, basketball, hockey and many more. Therefore, according to somatic (2014), a combination of sedentary life style and unhealthy diet is the main factor that contribute to the growing prevalence in obesity among Malaysian. From the influence factor of obesity, the government had come with some prevention on it under the 8th Malaysian Plan (PM). The government has been trying to promote local fast food industry by offer financial and training support to those Malaysian that interested . This situation indirectly increases competition among fast food companies and it changes the Malaysian appetite from tradit ional local delicacies to fast food respectively. The result from this situation is the nutrition imbalance because fast food is incantation with high sugar and fat. According to Geek (2012), Malaysia has been experiencing an upward trend in term of the availability of calories from animal and having escalation of availability of sugar has from 28. 8 keg to 48. 7 keg between 1 967 and 2007. Even though this situation will pose a negative impact on the human health over a long term of consumption, it is not really highlighted.According to Phantasmagoria and Pranks (2007), Malaysian was obscured by other element such as nice packaging, delicious in taste, attractive promotion and good service to increase people excitement in enjoying this type of food. People nowadays are more used to a sedentary life style. The evolution of modern technology has created machines that replace the human role in performing quite a number of daily chores. People no longer walk to our destination due to th e convenience of all sorts of transportation. On the other hand, more sophisticated and smart technology too influence people in using modern gadget make this situation become worse. In other point of view, Malaysia was one of multi rattail that live in en nation. Even though every race has their own unique beliefs and practice, they celebrate the fiesta together without any problem. Usually in the festival Hair diaphysis, Chinese New Year ,Divalent and many more, they widely being practice an open house which it becomes a culture to all Malaysian.According to Moravian and Mood (2012), people in Malaysia love to served a lot of their traditional food and people will take a chance to taste as many types of food as they can. Usually that kind of traditional food they only can find on that festival. For example,Hair Ray festival, Malay people like to SE coconut milk when preparing their traditional dishes. The other festival also in use of unhealthy ingredients for several traditional food like adding the coconut milk and using a lot of oil make the food unhealthy to be consumed.Chon, (1984) says that, the risk of obesity will increased by taking a large amount of unhealthy type of food. According to the president of Malaysian society, Mood Small Nor (2014), Malaysian is be sixth in the Asia-Pacific region for obesity and diabetes. It shows that it is crucial to call fo r the governments attention on this unhealthy development. It agreed by Mood, (2002) it provides a rough picture on the real situation happened in Malaysia where the modernization really brought the huge changes for all Malaysian in taking the food and influence the majority to practicing sedentary lifestyle. As a result, Malaysian The Malaysia National Health Morbidity Survey 2011 (OHMS VIVO, obesity is one of the risk factors that play a main role in the increase of non-communicable diseases (NC) such as, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease . Based on data from OHMS IV, Malaysia ranked top of obesity in South-East Asia country, placed sixth prevalence in Asia and ranked thirty-ninth worldwide. This alarming statistics indirectly tell that Malaysia actually facing far more serious health robber compared to other countries in the region. The Malaysia Government under our run aground Minister Data Si r Mood Ninja bin Tune Hajji Abdul Raze was launched the Economy Transformation Programmer (HTTP) that plays a comprehensive effort to transform Malaysia into a high- income nation by 2020. To achieve the objective that has been set, it requires a productive nation to ensure the success of this programmed. If the incident of obesity still in the arising trend and the people of Malaysia will be having potential to comply to NC, it will to slow down the journey to reach the aim of this programmed. According to Taylor (2006), the active and healthy people are needed in order to determine the high achievement and acquire success. Client Centered Therapy

Jessica Jeffers It is inevitable that in psychotherapy there ar numerous theories. Theories drum out of scholarly investigations of ideas on human behavior. Human behavior is an extraordinarily kindle subject and therefore produces a plethora of ideas from a variety of theorists. These theorists ar influenced by their education, culture, and time period. One of the most influential, empathetically understanding, theorists is Carl Rogers. His contributions to human behavior have changed many of the theories that preceded him, and contributed his theory to many theories that followed him.I want to explore Client/ mortal Centered Therapy. This is a type of therapy that was pioneered by Carl Rogers. This therapy is different because as the name suggests it solely focuses on the invitee. In focusing on the invitee, the lymph nodes feelings argon deeply explored. The assumption is however, that the leaf node was never able to have their feelings heard by the people surrounding the m. Person Centered Therapy would allow the lymph gland to hence be able to express their feelings openly. fit to Strupp (1971), psychotherapeutic kin is in principle indistinguishable from any good human relationship in which a person feels fully accepted, respected, and prized (p. 39). Thus, there must be a therapeutic alliance between healer and client. This therapeutic alliance should creative an environment for the client in which the client feels the healer is judgment-free. I find that Rogers theory to be interesting and seemingly affective. It makes sense that a change in a clients negative relationship patterns would allow freedom for the client to express themselves hitched on(p)ly.According to Strupp (1971), The client, therefore, is non a patient who is sick and who is in need of treatment, but he is a person whose rather experiences in life have made him defensive, severed him from free and open communication with his peers, and prevented him from realizing his potential as a fully run person(p. 39). Thus, the client would have to be categorized with the assumption that he has experienced in his past severed free and open communication with his peers. This would mean that a client with clear and reciprocated communication with her loved ones would not find se in Client Centered Therapy. According to Truscott (2010), our efforts to feel good about ourselves we tend to bear witness to incorporate others expectations? thereby denying our true up selves and adopting instead a conditional self? resulting in feelings of disorganization and emotional pain. If, on the other hand, we experience acceptedness, nonjudgmental caring, and empathy in our relationships with others, consequently we usher out achieve our potential as persons (p. 70-71). Thus, a client with emotional support can manage his feelings easier then someone without any emotional support. This still leaves the client with emotional support with the expectation that she should not have any difficulty with expressing her emotions. It is apparent that Rogers main goal was to create an environment for the client in which he will eventually be able to independently understand and express his feelings. Truscott (2010) reported according to the person-centered, humanistic worldview that, When we are fully functioning we are then able to make healthy decisions and set goals for ourselves that are congruent with our personal possibilities. The therapist, therefore, does not set goals for the client of solving or managing problems. Rather, clients who are able to become more fully functioning will decide for themselves how best to cope with problems and participate in a satisfying life. (p. 71) This independence that Rogers cherished to invoke in his clients has functionality. A person who was not able to function independently will be able to do so, which in turn can have powerful effects. The question is however, without therapeutic goals the lines of recovery seem to be infinite. Thus, if a client is not moving toward a tangible goal, then she is not moving forward. As an argument to that, I would contend that the client would move forward because they would progress in their ability to recognize their emotional turmoils. Rogers may not have worked with his clients to produce and obtain goals, but he did have a ultimate goal in his therapeutic work. According to Rogers, They clients are then able to accept themselves as they are and to commit themselves to becoming more like they can and want to be (as cited in Truscott, 2010, p. 2). The client is in turn aided by the therapist in becoming as authentic as possible. Thus this authenticity would provide the client with the ability to be true to themselves and their feelings. I find this to be useful in allowing the client to process their internal feelings, externally. According to Truscott (2010), Therapists must be willing and able to listen without prejudice, judgment, or agenda if the client is to have any chance of feeling truly understood and accepted.Positive feelings, negative feelings, and silence must be acceptable to the therapist (p. 73). This is interesting because it requires that the therapists become void of any judgments. To me this seems like a difficult task to accomplish because of the nature of judgments. Understandably so, the therapist would automatically make judgments of the client, as a natural inclination even with the best intentions against judgments. So, what kind of a therapist must one be to establish a patient centered therapy?According to Truscott (2010), Because person-centered therapy is, at its heart, a highly collaborative approach, three qualities of the therapist must be evident in relationship with the client (p. 73). Truscott (2005) reports that these qualities are genuineness, unconditional corroborative regard and emphatic understanding. Truscott (2005) explains, Genuineness requires a significant depth of self- knowledge. It is only a fully functioning person who can be totally genuine (p. 73). To add (1971) contends, he most basic ingredient of therapeutic success, is characterized by the therapists openness to another persons experience and a keen awareness of himself and the clients experience (p. 41). , the therapist must be very aware of himself in order to be present on behalf of the client. Truscott (2005) also explains unconditional positive regard It means that the client feels understood in a nonjudgmental way (p. 74). Thus, if the therapist is completely judgment free, the client is more likely to express themselves without a fear of world ridiculed for their thoughts.Lastly Truscott (2010) explains empathetic understanding, This means that the therapist senses accurately the feelings and personal meanings that the client is experiencing and communicates this understanding to the client. The following two things are important about this (a) that the empathy be accurate and (b) that the empathy be made known to the client. (p. 74) It is important to understand that empathy is important in all therapeutic relationships. It is a marrow value a therapist must possess in order to create a proper alliance with the client. It is especially important with the client centered therapy, because empathy is a core concept in the client centered therapy. Rogerss theoretical approach functioned well for the goals of the client finally being able to discover key themes about themselves. Accordingly Raskin, Rogers ump witty (2011) contend that The common thread is the need to understand the clients relationship to the problem, illness, or self destructive behavior to collaborate with the client in self-healing and growth (p. 172).Thus, the therapist must combine with the client to put in a joint effort in the healing process. This collaboration seems most efficient because it does not allow for a false belief that the therapist will solve all of the clients problems. Instead, it should permit the client to feel that she has support to dive into emotions she might have been panicked to do so before entering client centered therapy. It is interesting to note according to Raskin et al. ( 2011), Our basic practice client centered therapy remains true to the core conditions no matter who our client may be.We also assert that our ability to form an initial therapeutic relationship depends on our own openness to and admiration of respect for all kinds of difference (p. 183). I believe that the cultural diversity that CCT maintains is important in a multiplicity open therapeutic environment. The implications for a non homophobic form of therapy are that it can be used across populations. This allows for broader use of this theory and the chances for positive outcomes is increased because the availability.
